About Dr. Genessa Lewis and MPS²
Dr. Genessa Lewis, PsyD, MSCP, RxP, C-TMH is a licensed Prescribing Psychologist dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care that addresses the unique needs of each individual. By integrating psychotherapy and medication management, Dr. Lewis offers a comprehensive approach to treatment designed to promote healing, resilience, and long-term emotional wellness.
Dr. Lewis is proud to be the first female African American Prescribing Psychologist in Illinois, a distinction that reflects her commitment to expanding access to high-quality mental health care and serving diverse communities with cultural awareness, empathy, and clinical excellence.
Prior to her career in psychology, Dr. Lewis served for 27 years with the Chicago Police Department, retiring at the rank of Commander. Her extensive experience in public service provides a unique understanding of the challenges faced by first responders, healthcare professionals, executives, and individuals working in high-stress environments. This background has shaped her passion for helping individuals navigate stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, and life's many transitions.
Dr. Lewis founded MPS² with a vision of creating a practice where individuals feel respected, supported, and empowered to take an active role in their mental health care. She believes that treatment is most effective when patients fully understand their symptoms, diagnoses, treatment options, and goals. For this reason, patient education is a cornerstone of her practice. She works collaboratively with each patient to ensure they have the knowledge and confidence necessary to make informed decisions about their care.
A strong advocate for reducing the stigma surrounding mental health treatment, Dr. Lewis is particularly committed to serving members of the BIPOC community and addressing disparities in mental health care access and outcomes. She strives to provide culturally responsive care that recognizes the unique experiences, strengths, and challenges of every individual.
